Healthy and Stealthy Black Bean Brownies
You and your kids will never know that these brownies are packed with protein, fiber and low in fat!
1 box brownie mix (Ghiridelli is my favorite), 1 can black beans
rinse the black beans in a strainer and put back in the can. Fill the can up with water until beans are just covered. Puree beans and water in a food processor until smooth. Blend with the brownie mix and bake according to the box instructions. Do not add any other ingredients (eggs, oil, milk etc) from the box directions.
You now have made healthy and stealthy brownies!
Great wines under $10! As I try them and find some good ones, I will post them here!
Radius Cabernet Sauvignon 2010. $8.99 This cabernet is rich, smooth and full of jammy notes. Deep ruby color. Slight oak finish with hint of vanilla. A great find for this price. Best with red meat, burgers, pizza.
Butterfield Chardonnay 2009. $7.99 – $9.99 This chardonnay is light on the oak but holds a nice buttery finish (very difficult to find in this price range) with mild citrus notes. Goes well with seafood and chicken dishes.
Columbia Crest Grand Estates Cabernet Sauvignon 2008. $7.99 – $9.99 Awarded 88 points and Best Buy by Wine Enthusiast (and with good reason!) and Wine Spectator. A pretty big wine for the price. Notes of vanilla, chocolate, and oak make this Cabernet a winner with beef and game.
Great wines under $20
Testarosa Chardonnay 2010. $17.99 – $19.99 This chardonnay is light on the oak with a notable butter palate. The golden straw-like color gives credence to its complexity. Easily comparable to a $30-$40 bottle. It is already hard for stores to keep stocked. I am guessing the price will go way up next year if they have an equally good vintange. Goes well with seafood and chicken dishes.
